Yep .... our drainage systems are working to perfection around here. Thankfully i don't live in a basement on that side of the street!



Here's an old guy in galoshes fishing for the sewer grate. i had to hide in the garage to take this one .. his wife (front porch observer - see her to the right of the telephone pole. alright, she's tiny) had a cynical eye on me (sketchy drenched student snapping photos in flip-flopping socks - those due to having just returned from a shockifying electricstorm walk)

just caught a tarantula crawling on my neck. it was a baby one, but a hairy black spider nonetheless. should've taken a picture before squishing him!

Note on the last post ... the bird poop in the bottom left corner is a nice creative touch, no? Supposed to be there of course.

Shades of green

York U scientist/ecologist Dr. Dawn Bazely states that equilibrium within any ecosystem can never be reached. Interesting and provocative concept, and one that i have a hard time wrapping my head around, in light of a major topic called Sustainability (that's right, capital S) that everyone concerned with the environment today has been talking about.

Sustainability implies a certain balance (aka: equilibrium) in which ecosystems are maintained over the longterm. (a garbage dump, btw, can be classed as an ecosystem. likewise your desk, or your household, or the city that you live in. these are all viable ecosystems).

What's happened to the ecologists then? Plant-loving, people-loving, ecosystem bent bunch that they are, i'd expect them to be all over the sustainability thing! But, since equilibrium cannot be reached, ever, hang all thoughts of balance. Teeter totters were always way more fun when they were swinging madly anyway.

i've been thinking about ED lately. More specifically, i've been thinking about ED's tp. It's really like none other. The selection here looks to be green apple, lemony fresh, tropical mango orange and strawberry. Coming soon to a Walmart near you

This is grass. i don't typically like grass but, with all the white stuff being thrown around lately, green scratchy blades are beginning to seem awfully nice. Besides, Mike took this shot somewhere in the great, wild north, so it's presumably pretty natural. Maybe grass is not so bad after all.
